If you ever had one of those moments where a little factor made all the difference. I just had one those moments.

Traveling southbound on Sooner Rd. from Lowe's, I get stuck behind a slow cruising police car (40mph in a 45mph). And so everyone else is also traveling the same speed as the police car. We start to apporach SE 59th and Sooner Rd. when out of nowhere a black Ponitac screams through the intersection and plows into the side of a late 80's, early 90's Ford F-150. The police car had a front row seat to this accident as he was barely a car lenghts away. The Ponitac is totaled with the front crushed to the cabin. And the F-150's rear axle got completely torn off. The force was so great, both vehicles cleared the intersection and smashed into the far right lane into another vehicle. And then it hit me, if I was able to do the 45mph speed limit, it could have been me or that police car in a F-150 & Ponitac sandwhich. The only thing that I had to do was brake hard to avoid any other collisions that might occur after the first impact.

As for who is at fault. Most definitely the Ponitac's. They blew threw a solid red light. The Ponitac had to be at least going 40mph and the F-150 was going 20mph on a green light. Sorry, no photos, didn't get enough time to whip out my camera and take a shot. And at the time, taking a photo wasn't on my mind.

Dang man that sucks Hope everyones alright! I've had that same thing happen to me but it was a pontiac and a chebby van in the collision then the pontiac got me.

I know what ya mean....one night I was driving home from work in a 86 Monte SS,the bulb was out on the speedo so I had to use a lighter to check my speed. I checked it and was going below the speed limit but had the thought that I had to slow for a curve up ahead so I left the cruise alone....right before I got to the curve two deer ran across the road in front of me....makes ya think.

I recieved no damage, but got a great view to it all. The police car was so close, that he had no reaction time to brake at point of impact. Either way, I'm still breathing and Ranger is okay. As for the other two, the F-150 didn't have air bags, but taken the hit just behind the cab and pushed the rest of the way. The pontiac did have air bags and since it was a 2000 model or newer, so it is better designed to asborb the crash. But for both vehicles, it will come down to who wore a seat belt.

Like I tell all my friends who think they are immortal...Fate has a way. When it is your time, it bites you on the A**....lol

Glad that was not you in that crash. Hope all involved are ok as well.

I still remember the time sitting at a red light, it turned green and just from habit, looked both ways before moving. Thank the lord I did, a semi blew the light doing maybe 55. I have kept that habit. Cautious but alive!

I know what you guys are saying........I was at a service road stop-light. A lady squeezed her car in between me & the light. I got mad about what she did.......the light turned green--she took off---another car doing about 55mph(the speed limit on that main road) ran their red-light & took the frontend off the woman's car who was in front of me!

Anyhow.....glad your O.K. Learjet.....I'm giving a Hi-Five to the Man Upstairs!

( I call near misses the "Five Second Rule".....five seconds either way makes a Hit or a Miss!)

Good to hear you're ok. Saw something like that down by Bass Pro a couple years ago.
