this is something that just bugs the hell out of me. i think that the lift companies cater to jeeps and just shit on ifs (98 & up) rangers. even the newer jeeps are dirt cheap to lift compared to newer rangers. you mean to tell me that after 11 or 12 yrs you still have to pay through the nose for even a 4 inch lift. are the parts actually that expensive to make? or are we just gettin hosed?

pisses me off to man. dont know why they are so expenisve.

The parts that need to be made for a lift on an ifs suspension are much more complicated to make and require more sophisticated machinery to produce the parts compared to a solid axle suspension. Sad but true.

That is why most full size chevy's are lowered and the fords and dodges are getting lifted....
IFS is a major pain. the higher you go the more offset everything is.

supply and demand, simple as that.

the supply comes from companies willing to risk doing R & D for a product that either may end up not being liked, or fall victim to a ford design change right after they get one product out.

ifs is more complicated than previous designs (ttb, solid). this means smaller, more technical parts. keep in mind the airbag stuff that has to work properly, or you get lawsuits galore.

combine that with lack of demand. yeah, people want them. but not very many compared to other brands, that keep the same design longer

Heh. Since I was one of the first people here to own a late-model back in 2002, I knew this would happen in a few years when used ones hit the market to get bought by the younger folks at TRS.
And now there are two less companies making lifts than there used to be (Trailmaster and RCD kits have gone bye-bye).
Your choices are:
1. Body lift.
2. Superlift. TRS Fab & Off-Road has them at a discount for members.
3. Dixon Bros for about $4300.
That's why I made a late-model FAQ sticky in the 4x4 Suspensions Forum.

Superlift is the only economical kit out there. They have been unavailable all year.

Superlift has just started filling orders on them. They were waiting for shocks for a long time (different manufacturer) but I was told yesterday that they had filed Chapter 11 and there had been a financial issue as well and not just waiting on someone to send them shocks.

It's my understanding that they will remain in business and my supplier is scheduled to get more Superlift Ranger kits around July 10th.

i lifted my chevy 4 inches with a rancho lift. 2200(with instalation) later it looks good with the 35s

About Superlift:

West Monroe, LA - Superlift filed for Chapter 11 Reorganization on April 8, 2009. Suspension companies are among the worst hit during the recent economic slump.
Owner/President Bret Lovett said, “This particular economic situation has created issues on a scale most have never encountered. Record fuel prices, and the poor national economy in general, led to sharp decreases in truck sales and the largest sales decline in Superlift’s 34 year history. We have faced tough times before, but what made this especially difficult is the fact that the credit markets are basically frozen.

Lovett added, “Reorganization should not to be confused with liquidation; we remain very much alive and kicking. This move allows Superlift access to needed capitol and cash-flow breathing room. Superlift and Black Diamond products are still being produced and shipped daily. We will continue to develop and offer exceptional products, and honor our Limited Lifetime Warranty, as we have since 1975. I am happy to report that since the first of the year order volume has been exceptionally strong; it looks like the worst is behind us.

Fabtech filed Chapter 11 also.

i cant believe Fabtech filed chapter 11.
