the point of the law is to shit can horrible devices from the get go....go look up thrillcraft. its turds like them that are pusing things like this.
my boy is 3....my oldest daughter will be 20...i have 5 kids total and all ride. the lil boy if he behaves will have a z50 or similar at 3..if he shows the ability, he will be tested and liscensed to ride with me on all state aqpplicable systems this year as well...i still have a trail bike i was riding at 5 which is in no way meant for a 5 year old...its an ol terra version of the rupp lil indian...i was just riding it today when we were making our new tracks in the woods that others tried to stop. its private property and i was happy to run the fuggin deq off...and killed a few other birds with that stone too. the do goody lady got a real education which you can bet will prompt some letter campaign to end this abuse of children due to exposure to these dangerous death machines.....
myself and you obviously see it differently.
its these types of people that do these things.
All I'm saying is that the law was created to prevent high levels of lead from being allowed in children's toys. All the law specified was that this was to apply to anything marketed to children under 12. They didn't specifically pass a law to prevent ATV's and Dirtbikes from being sold to young children, it was a law intended to prevent young kids from coming into contact with toys containing large amounts of lead. Since small dirtbikes are "marketed for under 12's" they fell under the ban and unfortunately had to be taken off the market. There was nothing specifically in the law about powersports products.
I'm pretty convinced that for that reason the fact that ATV's and Dirtbikes have become banned was because of an oversight and a poorly written law, and its for that reason that I think it will be corrected! I'm sure there are many other things intended for children under 12 that might contain more lead than is allowed, and perfectly legitimately, so hopefully exceptions to the law will be made and powersports products will be included! If that list of exceptions shows up and powersports products aren't on it, THEN I'll be worried!
I did look up thrillcraft, and all I can say is

lmaoo they are incorrect and uninformed in many different areas concerning "thrillcraft."
They claim and I quote directly from the website:
"Several negative impacts are common with all thrillcraft whether personal water craft (jet skis), dirt bikes, all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles or any other motorized vehicles used primarily for off highway travel is that they operate with two-stoke engines."
Erm... Sorry but the majority of off-road vehicles I own are 4 stroke. I only own one two stroke dirtbike out of about 12 different ones, and I've never owned a 2 stroke ATV.
Even the information they claim about 2 Stroke vehicles is wrong:
Here they are talking about Snowmobiles and how they affect the environment.
"However, many enthusiasts still prefer the 2 stroke engine since it is considered to be superior in terms of power for weight and uses fuel more efficiently than a 4 stroke engine."
While a two stroke engine is lighter and generally more powerful for a given displacement, a 4 stroke engine generally produces much more torque which is necessary offroad, and you can't even buy 2 stroke trail bikes anymore. All the manufacturers have gone to 4 stroke and even many 2 stroke motocrossers are being replaced with 4 stroke versions. A 2 stroke is also waaayyy less fuel efficient than a 4 stroke, so whoever told them that little tidbit of information needs a slap! While there are certainly still many 2 strokes about, 4 strokes are fast taking over, as they are often now preferred!
Anyway, we might as well agree to disagree; as long as it gets sorted asap I don't honestly care, and don't think it matters who caused the law to come into effect. That Thrillcraft site was certainly full of crap though!
