no muffler, could the engine need the back pressure?

I just bought the truck the other day, it ran fine on the way home, but when I went to go to work the next day I was fighting it the whole way there.

I don't know these trucks yet, so I'm confused:dunno:

i say check your grounds first. Is it hard to start too?

is it misfiring or bogging down? is there still a cat on it? if its bogging down the cat could be clogged.

your engine doesnt need back pressure to run. back pressure is a bad thing.

Start by pulling codes. The tech section will tell you how. It's easy and always the first place to start.

Check compression
Check fuel pressure.
Check Vacuum.
Replace fuel filter if you haven't already.

Do those basic tasks and report back.

I'll check the cats, it has two for some reason. It does sound more bogged than miss fire.

ok what i thought was a cat looks more like a conector. But i did cut the actual cat off, and about a pound of just carbon poured out. The truck does run better now.
