Idle Problem

My 86 2.9 has had a roaming idle. It will wander between 1100 and 1200. Its always idled high around 11 or 12 but it never roamed around like this. I need to smog is next month. Any ideas?

Well start with the AIC, remove and clean with carbon cleaner, let dry and reinstall.

this can be many things, but start with AIC.
does it do this strictly warm or cold? or doesn't matter?
when was the last time the fuel filter was changed?
Have you checked for vacuum leaks?
