Sorry to thread-jack, but it seemed better than creating a new one.......:icon_twisted:

But yeah, I'm having a similar issue. Sometimes it will coast fine then all of a sudden jump up to about 3k drop some and go back up. Its not just on idling though, when its in gear and i let the gas off it can still pull the truck along on its own rather than engine braking, it can pull me up grades in 2nd......In neutral it will sit at 3k until I come to a complete stop then it will drop down to normal.

A year and a half ago I had this problme and a shop replaced the IAC. Fixed it for close to a year and then it started acting up again. I cleaned the IAC to no avail, so I replaced it. That helped for about a day and then it was back to revving up on its own again. I cleaned the MAF, again, didn't do the trick so I replaced it about a week ago. Didn't help any and then the next day it seemed ok. Worked fine up until a couple of days ago and now the problem still occurs, but not as often. It seems less likely to happen when it rains? Just because its acted fine down here in GA during the monsoons.....
This is frustrating the hell out of me because its been going on for several months :dunno:

Maybe a slight vacuum leak? ANy pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Fockler, it may be as simple as cleaning / replacing your IAC....it worked for me before.....but someone more reputable would have to back me up on that

my truck did the same thing im pretty sure ir was the throttle possition sensor i swapped out the whole throttle body with an extra i had and it stopped.

My PCV valve still rattles, so its still good. Though it might be worth a look see and check the hose that goes from the valve to the manifold and see if its clean. A TPS isn't too expensive so its worth a shot. I feel retarded for overlooking that :dunno:

Thanks guys, will let you know how it goes!
