I have a 92 ranger xlt with a 3.0 manual tranny. The issue started the other day. When I start the truck the idle drops to the point of stalling unless i apply slight pressure to gas to bring it up to 900rpm or so. Once it has warm for 20 or so secs it seem to slowly stay at 600 to 700rpm. I go and drive it for a bit and the idle returns pretty much back to normal. It is not bouncing around or is not losing power, missing, smelling of bad exhaust. It just does not want to idle in beginning. I recently had fuel injector cleaner in it and put gas in it the other day. Any ideas?

Also try cleaning around the throttle butterfly in the throttle body. If you havent done so replace the PVC valve and do so with every tuneup.

Engine temp sensor my be bad or connection bad...it tells the computer the engine is cold so it can bump up the cold idle to around 1200 or so then gradually back to 750 as the engine warms up. If not that, suspect the IAC or a vacuum leak...vac leaks generally cause loping at idle though...up, down, up, down...which goes away after it warms up, sometimes.
