I recently posted about some ongoing electrical issues. Someone suggested that it might be a GEM failure (thanks). This '95 4x4 4.0l 5spd has not had working windshield wipers or a horn for a while. Now that I'm the new owner, I want to get these things sorted. I did some troubleshooting with the horn and everything seems ok but still not making any beep-beep (horn works, relay is good, steering wheel switch is working).

After some searching online, I see that my occasional "door ajar" switch issue might also be associated with the GEM. I also tried out 4Low and after turning the switch nothing happened. I then tried again and after hearing what sounded like a relay click, it engaged. The only other issue I've been having is a random high idle. It will sometimes idle at ~1500 rpm.

Any advice on troubleshooting this? Remove/re-seat? Hit it with a hammer? Look for OBD (or OBDII ???) codes???

much thanks, Scott
