idel too high ...problem...but not always???

hello
My 2005 Ranger 4L have a idel problem from time to time...

once in 2-3 days the rpm at idel speed climb anywhere from 1500 to 2500 rpm...

and it's worse when the engine is cold...

sometime I press the clutch...the rpm should drop to about 750...but sometime it stays at 2000???

this is kind of tricky when you wait at a red light with engine reving at 2500 rpm with the clutch at the floor!!!




what should I check? what can be the source of he problem???
remember...some days the engine run just perfect...no high idel speed...but some other days...it's an other story!!!

Clean the IAC, it controls idle.
See if that helps.

how do I clean that?...with brake cleaner, gaz, tinner?

Idle Air Control is on the upper intake right behind the throttle body. Clean it with carb cleaner or throttle body cleaner.

Edit: Here a picture from another thread. It's the piece with 2 bolts holding it to the upper intake in the middle-left of the picture.
