I went and saw the 'Homestead' movie and feel like I got suckered.

It turns out to be a series. And not like a typical movie series where they leave you hanging. No, they show you scenes from the next episode like you were at home watching it on Netflix.

But to see the rest of it, you have to scan a code on the movie screen and 'make a donation' to be able to watch the next part of the series which you be able watch at... you guessed it... your own home.

I'm so disappointed. It wasn't worth making the donation so I could come home and watch the next part.

Id be pissed about that

I'd have been pissed, too.

It sure seem that these days, all that you can buy is crappy, overpriced stuff, and every Tom, Dick and Harry is trying to squeeze you for every last cent.

That sounds like it might fit the legal definition of a "bait and switch". Probably not worth it for the limited liability cost of the ticket tho.

I'd be pissed too.

Interesting concept....assholes.
Thanks for the skinny. I've been seeing a lot of push for that flick lately.

I think we'll see more of this...

Like Yellowstone. We paid for The Peacock App to stream that series. Then... we wanted to watch the prequels... we had to get Paramount Plus.

Now... to watch the final few episodes of Yellowstone... you have to pay for Paramount.

I refused to pay for another app...

The streaming thing has gotten out of hand.
I gave up years ago.

I’ll watch stuff that’s on Amazon prime video because I have prime, but that’s it.
If it’s not on prime or Pluto, I just won’t watch it.

Frees up a lot of time not watching tv all the time.

Give it some time… they will bundle all the steaming services together in one package for a price. Basically reinventing cable.

Thanks for the warning Jim. I liked the sound of the plot, and the idea of the studio behind it. Not sure that I can get on board with that marketing model though. I deffinitely won't be going to see it in theaters now.

I feel the same. If there was one app that featured most/all of the series that I wanted to watch I'd consider it, but every show requires a different app or possibly multiple for one series. I refuse to pay for any app to watch shows on. If I can't watch it for free on one of the streaming platforms, I don't need to watch it.

I same here. I use Prime Video, because I subscribe to Prime anyway. If the other perks of Prime go away, I'm not keeping it for Prime Video. If things keep going as they are, Prime my be going away. I bought in for the free two day shipping. Still has getting the "free" shipping, but the two day thing is getting iffy and membership price keeps rising.

Pluto is a good one. Tubi has a bunch. There are also a few other free otions. They may not have the latest and greatest series like Yellowstone, but there's a lot of good free content available.

Ironically that's all many cable providers do these days. Pipe internet to your house and stream to the cable box.

Me too; my favorite TV app:

It wasn't what I thought it would be. Very disappointed.

Pluto is good for watching old shows on. They always have movies as well. I have Hulu because they had a special for like a $1 a month as well as Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.

Strangely, I've been watching more stuff streaming YouTube on my TV lately than anything else.

Youtube is my go-to. We only have Netflix, Disney+ and Philo for other options.

I could easily make do with just the 'tube though.
