i wanna swap 2.9 to 4.0

Hello i want to swap a 2.9 to a 4.0 and need help i would like to know what i would have to do to do this swap any kind of help would be apriciated its a 90 ranger xlt with a 2.9 thanks

Oh you are lucky. The 90 is gonna be simple.

It's usually easiest to browse craigslist and run a running, but bad-body/frame vehicle cheap and buy the whole thing.

The engine will drop in, the wiring is plug and play if you use a Ranger harness, the Explorers are wired a bit differently. The trans will bolt up, but if you have a 5-speed 4x4 trans replacement is recommended as the 4.0 will shred those Mitsubishi transmissions. If it's a 2wd or an auto (or both) your trans is good to go.

You will need the computer, and the fuel lines will need to be modified, but if you buy a whole vehicle you will have everything you need.
