Ok, now is the part where I really tick you off...

I went to the junkyard yesterday to pick up a 1997 Explorer 5.0
(a GT40 engine as opposed to a GT40P), not for me but for a friend.

the reason I mention it is that today I wanted the heavy lump out of my truck
and lacking the will to set it on the ground I had a flash of inspiration, instead
I set on the empty mounts on the '01 Ranger frame I recently aquired for a project...

That 5.0 engine looks absolutely evil resting on my '01 frame, but other than the fact that the drivers side 4.0 engine mounts that has it's studs in-line
the drivers side engine bracket on the 5.0 requires staggered studs...

But for obvious reasons everything lines up like it was designed to...
Hardly a suprise actually...

Now, to your situation what oil pan is on your engine?, because it looks to me like the CAST ALUMINUM 5.0 pan would make that problem go away...
(it is a rear sump pan unlike Mustang/tbird 5.0's)

hmmmm....if i can assume that the truck on your avatar profile is the one in question,it's an '89 2wd.
all the ones i've done were 4x4,which adds a bit to the job(and i've done LOTS)and i didn't find them to be too hard.
perhaps you need to put a ford smallblock into a toyota ifs truck for comparison.that one was a pain.

welcome to the swap club:icon_cheers:

I think that Wolfuss was mis-quoted...he "appeared" in the Sanctuary Forum many times and never cussed once.

Now....as for us guys cussing so much...even though I once cussed, I still remeber why I cussed:

I cussed just for attention/acceptance from my equals....

I cussed to make a point...

I cussed when angry...

Problem was/is-- invoking God to damn something is a useless waste of words--because it's obvious that God already damned the thing/situation in the first place, or I/you wouldn't be having such a problem with it to start with.

But...on the other hand--cussing is good/it prevents one from taking a hammer to the already-God-damned-problem...

Foxbody and SN-95.

I really don't like the fit of that pan on my 4x4, the drain plug is right above the pivot bracket... as in when you change the oil it runs on the pivot bracket.

I think the TTB trucks are pretty much stuck with it though.

I was taught to walk away & take a deep breath. It's all about "control", gentlemen-

:icon_rofl:

"it's all about control".....................

:icon_rofl:

"It's all about control, Gentlemen"--that's what they said when they handed me a machine gun.

:icon_rofl:
