For the past year my cousin and I have been working on this '90 CRX Si on and off..

I had put a quarter panel on the passenger side, fixed all the rust on the car, and we had started putting on a cheap body kit off of ebay. Also got a brand new fender, and a brand new sunroof panel from Honda. Put a nice dash in it because someone else had glued leopard print to the old one  We were building this car just to sell it, and had tried to sell it at one point. Since no one bid on it, we wanted to finish it and just beat the **** out of it, do some engine mods, and most likely put a bottle to it till it blew up.

Last Saturday my cousin found a Craigslist ad. 16 year old kid had a 1967 Mustang "project car" he wanted to trade for a Honda CRX. We went and looked at it, and knew right away we wanted this Mustang. We decided to tow the CRX to him to look at (it was a 60 mile drive one way). Took it up and down the road, and they knew they wanted it right then. So we came home with this gem..

After we cleared all the parts out of the car, we found someone had screwed sheetmetal down on the floorpans. The drivers side was perfect still, why they "patched" it I have no idea, but unfortunately the passenger side wasn't so nice.

The floors are the worst part of the whole car. Theres one small rust hole about the size of a quarter on the passenger door, and some pinholes behind the rear wheels.

The car came with all of the stainless and chrome, and the whole interior is there. The seats are original and they are in MINT condition, but they are not going back in the car. Car was originally a 289/4-spd. It came with a '73 302/c4, which for the most part is a junk engine, so I'll be using it to put in my Bronco II to putt around in the woods.

Major plans for the car are an Eleanor body kit, preferably a 4.6/5-spd, slap a flatblack paintjob on it and a couple seats, and beat the **** out of it.

All in all, I think we got a hell of a deal.

Nice find.I saw that mustang a few weeks back on CL.Also nice CRX.One day I'll get a gen 3 civic si.

can you say "YEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWW" {dixie horn plays in background}

That's a crime.:bawling:

i agree you dont beat the f out of original muscle cars you restore them to show conditions you want a car that you can beat to shit build a replica 67 mustang dont waste it your as bad as the people in movies taking original cars and smashing them up :bawling:

 I just hate to see old iron driven into the ground. Didn't the company that made the Eleanor mustangs go out of business or is come one else making the body kits?

what are you talking about? This is a COUPE. If this were a fastback, or something actually worth money we wouldn't even have this car right now. I AM restoring the body to show condition. I'm going to put in a brand new passenger floor pan, fix the dents, and paint the car.

When I say beat the f out of it, I mean we're going to drive it, take it to the track, have fun with it, just like you're supposed to do.

you can find the kits on ebay. Theres one in my town right now going for fairly cheap, theres 6 hours left on it so hopefully the price doesn't jump too much.

got you i retract my previous statement lol

Great score, ZMan! With your talent, I think you'll do up the old girl right. It's also a great investment, being a very desireable 40 year old muscle car. Good luck, and have fun with it.

i'd make that all origional, or as oe as i could. even if it had a I6 and auto. everyone says im just weird like that.

Nice one! I've always wanted to restore a coupe and build it up to track standards and run it into the ground...

I firmly believe everything should be driven :D

Need an I-beam front axle and a 390. Know what I mean?

Gasser style.

Edit--Found a Mustang gasser, but I like the higher stance of the Chevy--and the old-school axle parts.

Well after finding out about how much of a bitch the 4.6l swap is...my cousin decided to take a different route..

Meet the engine, got it for $150 on craigslist. 1972 351 Cleveland. Its the 2-barrel version, but thats ok, the bottom end is still capable of handling anything we can throw at it. Its going to get all the usual hop-up parts, including forged pistons, and aluminum heads. It will most likely get a t-56 behind it.
