ok guys, need some info hear asap. I picked up my long block today, got it home, un loaded, cracked a beer and staired at it lol, juss read through the paperwork and there was some info on ford truck engines, and veary little about the High Output i had bought. Anyways, Im getting the feeling there was a mixup somwhere, and need to know how I can tell is the long block in my basment realy IS a H.O.?

the cam is the only difference between ho and non ho on an e7 headed 5.0 motor.crank it over follow the valves determine firing order.

Whats the stamp look like on the head? its in the top under the valve cover, but the only thing i could fine was 0000028 and a circuler looking stamp that has E7108 or somthing like that.

bump? this is kinda urgent, if if there has been a mixup, i need to get it cleared up befor friday...

e7 are e7 ,its the cam that makes it an ho,so look at rocker action and follow the firing order.an ho is nothing great so no biggie just. check the firing order and hope its not an explorer cam which is a small ho (351 firing order) cam.or check for roller lifters.we do not have x-ray eyes.so you need to use yours.i doubt you got hosed

lol, i didnt ask for X ray eyes bro. i thought the H.O was heads and cam? Not to mention i want the HO output, not some 170hp truck engine. I think there was a mixup because one parts guy was saying "its a mustang engine, goin in a truck".

do i not need to pull a lifter to see if its a roller or a flat tappet?

no do not remove lifter.in the lifter valley does it have a spider looking hold down with h shaped dogbones between lifters.then its a roller.with out a dial guage to measure cam lift @ rockers you'll need to trust them

The E7 heads can be easily identified by the large "T" cast in one corner, next to the valve cover. Roller cam doesn't guarantee an HO 5.0. The base roller 5.0 from 86 to 91 also was roller cammed as were the pickup/van 5.0 from 92-97. If there's a large "S" in the corner next to the valve cover, it's a base 5.0 from a car with E6SE heads.
