so im trying to figure out this radio problem and i start to hear beeping coming from the passenger side and now my truck wont turn over when i engage the key. so how do I reset the anti theft system? its a 97 manual 4x4 ranger

Edit now it is slowly clicking not like dead battery.

I have no clue, but try disconnecting the battery for an hour or so...?

it appears to be the starter solenoid that is clicking. i just replaced it and it clicks exactly the same and there is a beeping noise coming from the passenger side floor where the ECU is. all this to get a ****ing stereo working. (still doesn't work)

That's why I hate new trucks..

But maybe you will find the problem. Find where the beeping is coming from and follow the wires..got to be a cut off switch or lock yer truck again and unlock it.

If it is locked out probably going to have to go to the dealer. Usually when they do that you have to attack them from inside the computer, nothing will touch them otherwise.

97 didn't have PATS, so you probably didn't put it into anti-theft. If you did, leave it sit until morning and try again. Most of Ford's anti-theft modes can be exited by leaving the vehicle sit idle with the key off and not in the ignition for a while.

everything appears to be working now. This is what I think happened anti-theft activated disabling the ignition. then about an hour later the anti-theft disabled so when I heard the clicking I still associated it with the Anti-theft device based on using the search engine here from previous posts. but what actually was going on after the anti-theft disabled was my battery was low on juice but I thought I had already eliminated battery because i jumped it with another battery but It turned out that the other battery was also dead and I even used my jumper pack but it was not powerful enough so it still clicked. I left it on the charger for an hour hoping that would fix it and it did. Yep.......

Edit: I did a bit of searching and it said the beeping noise could be a warning about not enough power to supply The airbags and thats why I decided to put the charger on it. Also the radio now works too???????

No spark to the plugs, Has juice to coil. This is what I have replaced so far. It comes up with the 1000 but won’t read it. I have disconnected the battery and hooked wire to the negative to the positive and let it sit 10 min. and still no spark

Fuel Filter

Start a new post in the general section with all the symptoms. A lot more folk will read it.

Anyone have a rough estimate of what the dealer will charge to replace the anti theft mod and reprogram?
