My first experience with the good old B2 was memorable... lol. I had an 84, and since the day I sent her to the scrap yard in the sky, the itch for another one has been in my head.... I really dig the 4.0, and 4.0 swapped B2's, but the sound of a 2.9 attempting to move brings a tear of happiness to my eye... I may finally crack and get another one in a few months, but they are so hard to find where I live... If I get one, I want it full stock, 5spd, and then some 235/75-15's on it. Thoughts?

Sort of as an afterthought that I didn't want to add to a long winded post, is it worth gutting a rust free good running 94 explorer for a gen 2 b2 4.0 swap?

Why sure it witch one will u have.more fun in a horse or a exploded I tho it self explanatory

No spell.check and girlfriends.droid lol I.will correct myself later

Ah. I knew something was wrong. You are usually much more coherent.

I would def gut a gen 1 Explorer to build up a B2.

I second that opinion.

I'd look for a bII as well to drop my 4.0 in too, but I'm having a hard enough time convincing my wife to let me keep my '99 because of its age.(if it's older than 3 years, she doesn't like it)

I have the gen 1 expo right now. Blegh 3.27's but a 4.0 and M5OD. If I do ever decide to do something rather than changing my mind every 30 seconds, I would love to get another 2 and put my explorer's guts in it, or a gen 2 ranger for that matter.

The explorer has much better axles and tranny than the vast majority of BII's came with... let alone engine.

IMO it would only be worth it if you swap over the axles and everything. the 7.5 and d28will do ok but why have something thats only ok? use the d35 and 8.8 with the 4.0 and any other parts that are in better condition from the ex on the b2 and its definitely worth it. same running gear+lighter vehicle=win no matter how you look at it

There was nothing wrong with my Ex donor other than the interior being shot. I yanked that motor to put in a rusted out B2. I must say though I already had Ex axles in the B2 and if the donor would have been a 2 door, I probably would have built it up.

i don't get it... where's the trouble?

"trouble" lol. I just bought this explorer in july, and it is mint. Has pw, pl, cruise, ac, auto 4x4, and a m5od. I want to gut a great explorer... If it were a 2 door (B2 or X sport) with a manual t case I would drive it till the day gas ran out.

Yup,I'd gut the ex in a heartbeat. B2's are awesome. You came to the wrong place for this type of advice

GUT-IT.......:yahoo:.....

It's obvious to me........:icon_idea:.........

and i don't know a thing about 4WD...........:yahoo:
