After just purchasing another ranger my wife asks me a question. Her question was, why dont you sell one of you other junkie trucks. Just a little background on my trucks, i have a 1989 ranger 2wd 5 speed 2.9 l with 201000 a 1995 ford f 150 4x4 4.9l 289000 5 speed and the i just purchased a 2003 ranger 4x4 4.0 5 speed with 120000. The 89 is the green dragon which is not the prettiest truck, the f 150 is the red bomber which again is nothing to look at the 03 is well my nicest truck. No dents in this one. haha. also I did buy my wife a brand new subaru about 9 mths ago. We have 3489 miles on it. She always fusses me because we drive the 89 to work, we carpool to save gas. I told her the reason i drive them is because i dont care if someone hits the door or body. SHe will never understand. So she talked me into selling one of my trucks. Im going to sell the f 150, the only thing is she has no idea that im planning on buying another ranger when i sell the f150. HAHA its a guy thing, i never ask her why she changes her purse every other week. I hope you guys know where im comming from and hope you all are the same way too. She also said we will be the first ones that will have a vehicle warranty expire due to being 7 years instead of miles..... But i said its much cheaper to fix an 89 ranger than a 2012 forester.

IMO a vehicle that is too good to be driven is too good to be owned. Granted some classics need to be preserved but I will never be one to put up a climate controlled storage facility for them.

If I can't drive it I won't own it. :icon_thumby:

You're walking a fine line there, if you're not careful you'll be co-habitating with the dog.

If I hang onto my 94 for as long as I've said in the past it will get to the point that it will get driven less and less until only special occasions will be the norm. These aren't a car that has butt loads of aftermarket support for restoration. Add to the fact of all the abused ones, kids ragging them out etc.... will eventually make it hard to find a decent one or make it near impossible to restore it. It's to the point Gen III and older parts in my store are "I can order it for you" VS in the past you could rebuild it then and there. Eventually it will be "I get get it special order".

I won't seal it in bubble wrap but I won't put another 200,000 miles on it either.

I don't know what a wife is, but I think that's what I've been avoiding because I hear they can be very possessive. From my limited experience with single women I would agree that you are walking a very thin line and if she has even suggested selling one of the trucks then she probably has plans...either a yard clean up or a man clean up...the yard clean up is easy, but it takes a man clean up to get there...and that is always a problem...

Resist them if you can...they only live a few years longer and aren't much good to anyone after they kill off their husbands...you may need to barter a bit with them to preserve your manliness and hang onto your toys...but eventually they will wear you down and convince you that you don't really need them...ah, the trucks...and sometimes they accidentally convince you that you don't need the wife...

I guess I should be thankful..... Before we added 10 yards of concrete, I had two 91 Explorers, a 98 Mountaineer, my Ranger bed trailer, and my Mustang all at one time (it was CRAMPED). Not one peep did I hear from my Wife. The neighbor that literally bitches about everything told me I have a used car lot, and my Wife told her to mind her own business.

Does she have any single sisters? A rare one Shane...you've got a rare one...:icon_thumby:

I am allowed to have anything I want, but I can only have 3 at a time and two of them have to be driving.

Not that rare. I currently have five vehicles in my name - 2000 Maxima, 1996 Camry, 1988 Ranger, 2008 Honda Civic, 2008 F-150. My wife's not complaining. Neighbors bitch though. Maxima went to school 400 miles away with my daughter but the rest are sitting in our driveway/carport.

You guys don't want to meet her sister. Born on Halloween and has the personality of a witch - uh - I mean B!tch.

No fooling, Points should taken off if the car is trailered to an event. Cars have to be exercised to stay running well. One of my cars sat for 10 yrs in a garage at one point. It really hasnt thrived.
