I have pulled oil pans off numerous smallblocks but never on the 2.0 powerhouse that is in the ranger.
I was wondering if anyone has done this with the motor still in the truck and how hard is it to do?
my manual(chiltons) doesn't go into much detail that I could find on doing it in the truck? any thoughts on doing it would be great.
also I'm just going to change the pump and pickup. Is a high pressure or high volume pump recommended? If not I would rather not waste the time, money, or horsepower.
thanks

not really doable in the truck, it's been done, but it's not much harder to just remove the engine...

stick with a standard pump, you won't gain anything with any other pump

I think I read on here that guys who did the oil pan in truck had to dismount the motor and lift it to get the pan out. Which is ok if all you have is a jack. But if you have the means to lift a motor, like he said above then pull it out and knock out all your maintenance. When you change the pump stick with a factory spec unit, word is nothing gained from an aftermarket pump.

thanks not what I wanted to hear but oh well.
I am just going to find a good long block and change it out if I have to pull the motor. one with less miles on it then I can do the cam and intake swap all at the same time.
