Well,

I created a cardinal sin! I decided to try hand at doing a tune up. Bought 8mm plugs and high performance rotor and cap, also got the motorcraft performance plugs. I had to disconect some of the wire to get old rotor cap out. I thought I could remember how to hook the wires back up to the distributer cap, and could not. Now I am total confused. Can anyone help me???:icon_surprised::annoyed::shok:

I really need a

look in the tech library under 2.9L and it tells you and if you have a book on your truck it will tell you the wire order

tune up

I found the tech library info, I have it hooked up like it looks on the diagram. I then started ot and it began to run really rough. I will see if my manual has the info.

tune up ps

There is a little black knob on top of the rotor cap. When I installed the new cap the knob was in the back instead of the front, only way it would go on. Would this make a difference?

i dont think it would matter if thats the only way it would go on,water in the cap maybe? did it run rough before you changed the cap?

truck

loneranger48 thank you for your help! I probably should have not even messed with the stupid thing! I was just trying to save some cash! This daily driver is costing me way to much as it is, and it sits more than I use it!!!

PS Read WTF now!!!!

Pictures Please

If you can post clear, close up pctures of the cap, wiring, maybe we can check for an error.

Is the rotor put on correctly inside the distributer?

I don't think I can get a clear picture of the cap. It is under the iron mounting (Fuel injection system?-forgive me I am new) atop the block.

well messin up is the best way to learn. are the wires put on right?
