ok heres the story, i got a 93 ranger, 4 cyl,(with 8 plugs), stick. when i got it it needed a head gasket got that done and it was running great but the check engine light was on found out that the o2 was bad and the cat was backed up. got that fixed and then it was tossing codes out like crazy 224,222,223,998,90 and i believe 145. had everything tested and found out it was the Ignition Control Module and the Coil. got that fixed but heres the crazy thing starts right up and no check engine light!!!! idles great but if you step on the gas
(like leaving a light) it falls on its face and will die sounds like a diesel truck shutting down. but it only does it when around idle once you get above 1700 rpm it runs like a top. what im asking is does the truck need to relearn anything? is there i known issue with a sensor? any help would be great!!!!

Sounds like the exact some problem I had with my two rangers! Grab onto your egr valve if that thing isnt solid then you need to replace it! Its a vacuum leak. Both rangers ive bought had the same exact problem!! They rusted from under. You can get an aftermarket EGR for like $65 at carquest.

i have just got done checking the egr everything seems good. i had it out for a test drive and it has a ton of power (well for a 4 cyl lol) its just having issues at around idle

found it! it was a wire short that was killing the second coil!!!! the wire was to close to the exhaust.
