ok so i just got my truck back from the shop, i had a wheel bearing replaced and i drove it home with no problem and then i headed out to my girlfriends house and started out good. i noticed lots of vibration in the stearing wheel once i hit highway speeds but figured it was bad tire wear(long story due to the wheel bearing im guessing) once im off the high way the vibration is almost non existant however there is a knocking when im comming to a stop and it is speed related. i round the turn and the front wheel to me felt loose( could have been in my head, thats my biggest fear) so i pull over and take the wheel off to inspect it. the lugnuts didnt seem horribly loose so i check everything else, i didnt notice any obvious obstructions and everything seemed fairlly tight, about the only thing i noticed is that the studs didnt exactly line up nicely with the holes in the rotor, (they were towards the rear of the truck) im not sure if that maters and it seemed to have a very slight amount of movment. i didnt have the time to check out the other side so i just took it easy to my girlfriends house. any one have any ideas, its about 25 miles up to my shop, think i would be allright heading up there? thank you

One of the reasons I hate having my vehicles in a shop is that I've had some pretty bad experiences with them. One VERY recently. In the past I've had shops replace my brakes and they put one of my old brake pads back on, it rubbed metal to metal is how I found that one out.

I also had a shop not tighten my lug nuts (sounds like maybe that's what happened to you) and when I was almost home the threads were hashed. I called them pissed off and told them what they had did. They fixed it.

I just had a similar issue. It turns out that 1 of the 2 bolts that hold the brake assembly on actually fell out so it was skating around on the rotor (even though I tightened this bolt days before because I knew it was loose). I replaced the bolt on it and now its fine. Even when those bolts are loose they make some clunks and what nots, if it is your problem put some thread locker on before you retighten em (make sure you use that removable kind!!). Check out them bolts otherwise I have no idea!! ( :

It's really horrible what some of these shops are getting away with. I just recently had a gremlin of a problem with a small misfire at idle so I ripped my whole wiring harness apart. I took it to a shop who had it for over 24 hours and he told me he needed 3-4 hours at $75.00 an hour to try to figure it out.

He charged me $75.00 to tell me that, when he originally said he could tell me what's wrong for that!

I RARELY take my Ranger (or other vehicles) in to a shop. "I AM THE SHOP" for my Ranger and TRS has been the MAJOR contributing factor in that. Good luck, let us know what you find out bro.
