my ranger broke an axle shaft on the passenger front, but i don't want to fix it i want to put in a straight axle, i've heard that a dana 35 from an explorer and a shortened shaft would work but i want to know if thats everything because i don't want to be out of a truck for a long period, any suggestions?:icon_cheers:

How soon till you sas it? I'd just snag another shaft from the junkyard if it was me...

a d35 from an explorer is not a straight axle, it's a ttb. what truck is this?? it may be the same thing thats already in there.

btw, fill out your profile info so next time we dont have to ask questions about the truck :icon_thumby:

thank you my ranger WAS a pavement princess and now it's time to convert the whole thing into a great wheeler but still a daily driver, i just need help with what i need to straight axle it i don't know very much about gears but i know that it's got potential.

Alright well like kunar said, a dana35 out of an explorer is not a solid axle it's ttb, although a relatively easy swap (I'm waiting to help josh_lulu with his after the 4.0 is done) and will be good for 35's from what I hear.

What size tire do you plan on running? How hard do you want to wheel it? How much money do you want to spend?

There is alot of helpful information in the tech library regarding axles and sas's, check them out. There are many sas'd rangers out there so search your lil heart out and you will find a vast amount of information out there. Reading about other peoples builds will help give you ideas for yours and what you need to do.
