Hey i have a 1987 bronco 2 it sometimes just stops running and then ill go back the next day and it will start fine so i put a new ignition moduel in it it ran for like a week and now it wont start for me its been like -20 C here but i have it pluged in and just put a new block heater in the other day it worked fine last night and today it wont start. Also when it is running the valves or lifters or sumthing tick very loud and it kind of looses power any help would be verry appreatiated its getting realy cold walking to work

check the ECM power relay and the Fuel Pump relay they both should click when you turn the key (one then the other). both are attached to the inside fender on the passenger side. from front to back its the stater solenoid, fuel pump relay, and ECM relay. i just fixed this same problem on mine and it was a bad relay as well as some bad connectors on the drivers side of the engine where the wires come through the firewall.
if your relays are good i would think its gotta be a loose connection probably near the fuel pump. but more than likely its the relays.

as for the lifter sound theres not much you can do about that, almost all 2.9s, im assuming thats what you have, have that. as long as your oil pressure is good your good to go. and dont go by that gauge on the dash, its really just a switch. install your own gauge so you can actually see what the real pressure is at

Mine had the same exact problem...heres what the mechanic said.....on the back of the engine near the distributor there is a ground wire that is grounded to the firewall.....if it is loose or corroded, it will cause those symptoms...mine was corroded, so I cleaned it and now it runs fine!
