Did you clean all of the terminals on the wires? This may sound dumb, but when the engine is running, is the fan belt slipping (screeching) at all? If so, it may not be spinning the alternator quick enough. Just a thought.
Check the alternator for voltage output. It should read around 14vdc at the battery with the engine running.
If the alternator is charging, the wire from the alternator to the lamp may be shorted to ground somewhere. It is the lt grn/rd wire. Disconnect this wire from the alternator and see if the lamp goes out. If it goes out, the alt has a problem. It is possible for the alternator to charge and not turn this light out.
If the light does not go out when disconnected from the alt, it has a short somewhere.
If the alternator is not charging, that would be the problem.shady
