Ok so i need to know if the width between a ranger and a broncoII and an explorer are the same? I know the wheelbase length will be different because of extended cab and all that stuff but is just the width the same?

No. The Ranger has the narrowest of them, the B2 is very very close, but the Explorer is somewhat wider. 2 to 3 inches I think. For the most part they can be swapped around with minimal issues, expect for the Explorer which has under-slung springs, and so the perches are on the bottom of the axle, instead of the top like the other two. Shock mounts are also different for the Explorer.

ok so i have a 1990 ranger, its 2 wheel drive and im thinking about converting it to 4. I have 2 explorer donors but both have bad trannys so i found a bronco 2 with a good tranny and transfer case so im thinkin about using the bronco 2s tranny and transfer case and the explorers front end components, do you think it will work?

Sounds like it will, try to get a manual t case, auto ones are a PITA and thats alot of wiring to have to do for something that is crappy anyways.

It will work. There will be welding involved. The engine cross-cradle is slightly different from the 2wd to the 4x4.

I think the TIB mounting bracket is different too. You will have to replace the cradle from the 2wd with a 4x4, and you will basically need that and everything on down.

yea it does have a manual t case because i knew about the PITA part lol but will the brackets or cradles from the explorer fit as far as width goes? I figured on some new holes being drilled and stuff like that but will the width of them work?

Not sure of exact dimensions, but its gotta be dang close

alright i appreciate it everybody, ill let you know how it goes lol
