Hey folks.
I am trying to fix up my truck (1987 Ranger 2.9 L automatic trans) to donate it to an older lady who is really in need of wheels.
I am having a/c issues and need some assistance.
My system uses an HR980 compressor with screw-on hose fittings, not the newer snap-on type.
When I couldn't access R-12 anymore, I converted the system to R-134A a couple of years ago. Recently, it quit blowing cold.
Now, I have high pressure on both high and low sides of the compressor, so I think something screwed up in the compressor. I have no cold air at all.
The system isn't plugged, as I have checked all of the passages, hoses, the condenser and the evaporator. I have also replaced the drier and the thermal expansion valve. I pulled a vacuum and recharged the system. Same result, high psi on both high and low sides and no cold air. Like it isn't pushing the gas through the system in one direction.
The compressor also gets extremely hot to the touch.
I can find HR980s on the internet, but all have the snap-on fittings.
So, I'm looking for an HR980 with screw-on ones.
Any suggestions????
Thanks.
Rusty
