k so iv had my ranger for over a year now and my 4x4 has never really worked it was my daily driver and i got a car so i wanted to make this a toy i started trying to fix my 4x4 so i checked the fuses and changed the tranfercase starter motor, and got in the back and tryed to do the self diagnostic on the computer thing and still nothing i need some help

is it a push button 4x4? could be the switch. is it not even turning the front driveshaft? or is it not turning the front axles?

so that at least tells you its at, or before the transfer case. is it push button 4x4 though? or do you shift with a lever into 4x4?

since he had to check fuses and the computer and it has a transfer case motor use a little common sense and assume it is an electrical tcase.....not tryin to be mean but come on...

to the problem at hand do you have any lights come on when you press the 4x4 button if not start with the wiring and the computer the switch could also be a problem. if they blink but dont stay illuminated it is the computer or the wiring between it and the shift motor check that and give the update...

no lights not even a sound and i pulled the pannal where the buttons are and all the wires are in tip top shap i was wondering would it me my steario? cause i had one instaled right after i got it ? or could the hole t case just be bad?

the transfer case itself is 99% of the time not the problem if it was an issue it would try to engage and the lights would illuminate. when you did the self diagnostic test on the shift motor controller did the red light blink? it sounds to me it is either the switch or computer because you have no lights on the switch blinking check the power going to the back of the switch both in and out. it is a momentary switch so there will be constant power coming in but not goin out.

if you want 4x4 but dont wont the hassle of chasseing the electrical demons take the shift motor off and shift by hand. that is what i did until if found a manual to swap in place

wont that **** up my electrical if it gets dirt or mud shit like that in it??? cause im planing on using the wiering of that for my tralor breaks and the fog laps that are gonna go on my roll bar
