Ok, before anyone jumps in with "You probably shouldn't have done that", "That wasn't a good idea", or "That probably wasn't safe".... I ALREADY KNOW, but it had to get done, and my options were limited.

So yesterday I went home, got my grandpa's 12x5 trailer, hooked it up to the ranger's bumper and loaded it to the gills with big metal shelves, boxes of books, and my old FM145/BW1350 and took off 100 miles north to bring that stuff up here to where I'm moving. That plus the pair of axles I had in the bed and the fact that the brakes on the trailer are broken made for a fun trip.

But she did it, got home to return the trailer, and got back again.

I love my truck.

then she made it because shes planning to charge on a diferent way lol

I think thats proof that she loves you:wub:

Yeah, its probably more along the lines of she knows if the engine blows up she is sitting for a year or two until I have the money for a 4.0.

I have seen Rangers pull some hefty loads, just gotta take it easy and not let the load push YOU when you need to get it all stopped in a hurry.

Amen. My dad use to pull a 19' bassboat (about 3k lbs) with his 91' 4x4 Ranger with the 2.9L and 5spd manual. Good times when I was young. I can still remember that burnt clutch smell.

That's ok, I just toasted my Rangers tranny this weekend doing the same thing. Now I have a donor engine for the new 90 B2 I just bought. Always gotta lookmon the bright side

Rangers are tougher than they look. They beg to be worked & work HARD.

I love my truck as well. In fact, she's going to get worked in a couple of weeks. I'm helping (yet another) friend move. Having a truck is a blessing & a curse. It's a blessing because you're helping out friends. It's a curse because you're ALWAYS bgeeting asked to help.

I NEVER lend her out. Me & the truck are ALWAYS a package deal. On the upside, I don't have to pay for gas or lunch as often. :icon_thumby:

In fact, the day after my Ranger came home with me, I used it to bring a surprize Christmas gift home for a friend's husband. The flatscreen wouldn't fit in the back of her Grand Cherokee.

You can say that again. My truck is only ever happy when she is getting beat.

How very true. I remember one day after picking up my sister & her stuff (heping inmoving her out to Indy, IN for a new job), I was blasting along a back road in NY state, loaded to the gills, and my truck was singing like Paveratti.

Gotta love the times when you and the truck become one for one goal.

I used to use my Ranger like an F-250 diesel most of the time.... had to build custom spring packs after I had it for two years because the stock springs with an empty bed were absolutely flat (I have a picture somewhere of it). I guess that will happen when you've hauled over a ton in the bed a couple times....

I upgraded the springs and did a bunch of towing with it. Including flat-towing my Choptop almost 200 miles in lifted form.

Then the Ranger went into semi-retirement and I started using my F-150 for hauling/towing detail. Last fall I hooked up the Choptop and tried towing it with the F-150. I was horrified! I swear my Ranger made a better tow rig! It didn't seem to have a problem pulling it, but the Choptop seemed to want to push my F-150 all over the place and it didn't seem to want to stop as well. I never had those problems with my lil Ranger!

I'm hoping that once I fix my rear leaf springs in the F-150 it will tow better, or else I may have to put my Ranger back together and use that as my official tow rig, lol.

Yeah, I'm just glad that I had the 10" clutch. Something tells me I never would have pulled away from the old storage unit with the old one.

Its always fun using the truck what its meant to do!

I used mine with the bed loaded this past weekend for the 1st time. I've had it for a few months.

We had a TON of tools in the back and 2 toolboxes. My dad is a welder and he's retiring. We went to his work and grabbed all of his stuff.

I've hauled a rick of wood in a 2.3L ranger and it did just fine. Rangers are the best.
