Ok, guys. I just got that 'Congratulations..you won' Message just now as I brought up the web site. My McAfee Security did not have any warnings about the message...maybe no threat???

Probably no threat but I got a Franklin that says you didn't win.

At the rate I get those windows? I should be living next door to Bill Gates by now.

I have McAfee and it lets me know right away with a warning and if the McAfee shield is green when I google a site it is ok to go into that site and if the shield is grey or has a ? mark I won't go into that site. But here on our TRS site the shield is always Green. So, this afternoon when I brought up the TRS site I heard a voice say ' Congradulations, you have won' and I backed out right away and did a quick scan and not threats were found. That is so weird!!!

I don't trust McAfee or Norton any further than I can throw my Ranger for security warnings. and when it comes down to it, if it smells like a rat it probably is, I don't bother clicking it. I just adblock it and close it out.

DON'T DO IT!!

Not unless you want a flood of spam mail to hit your email account!

Jim even said that those shouldn't be on here!

My linux box wasn't affected. I heard the message but it never popped up a screen. Using an old-ass version that needs updating mighta helped too- didn't support flash player #78 or whatever.

No, I was not prompted to open anything... just after I brought up the TRS website I heard a male voice that came up and said ' Congratulations, you have won'...and then I closed the site real fast like and checked my McAfee for a virus and none was found. I have had McAfee for a very long time and I have never had any Trojans or viruses or any issues. I have never lost a hard drive as well. I only update to a new computer every three years just to keep up with the technology that continues to grow every week or so....lol

Wise advice. I'm still using zone alarm and AVG on this one. Had a trial edition of Norton when I first built this rig. It let a severe virus walk right in and did nothing to stop it. Heck, it even LOGGED the entries into the system register files when it turned off the anti virus, firewall, and win defender.

I sent Norton an email telling them to shove their product up their butts. Any anti virus should be *smart* enough to detect an attempt to change the value of the firewall and/or antivirus from being turned 'on' to 'off'.

As it stands? It logged the file that made the change, allowed the change to happen, and never reported the change until I dug around and found it myself.

I've sense dropped spybot S&D on it, and kicked on the tea-timer. Any changes to the registry files now go past ME first.
