Going to work this morning, made a left and signal worked as it should. Went to make my right turn and no signals working left or right. This is on a 1999 Ranger. Am I looking at replacing the turn signal switch? When I engage the turn signal arm, I get one ping from the relay can and nothing more. Hazard lights work fine. Does the Ranger use separate relays for the turn and hazard lamps? And finally, where are these relays located on a 1999?

Most vehicles use separate flashers for turn signals and for hazards. I would start by testing or replacing the flasher for the turn signals. I don't know where it's located, but you can register for a free account at autozone and get access to basic repair guides.

If you need to get a new flasher, I recommend you get an electromechanical or electronic one. The thermal flashers just don't last as long.

Sounds like the flasher went out to me. I would get another one and they should be located in the fusebox

quick and dirty test is swap the flasher for the 4 way flasher

Thinking maybe the multifunction switch inside of the steering column.

I have a 95 and a 98 go bad, easy fix just take your time.

My 98 was actually the lock on one of the pins in the Multifunction Sw, i pushed it in and ty-wrapped the wire and it worked great.

Replacement Multifunctions switch may run $100+, then there is either yours or their labor.

I have a new Multifunction Sw, not sure of the year it fits.
It is OEM, in the box, if it is the switch, find out the p/n and let me know, we can work something out.

Easy test to see which is bad. Remove the flasher and put a wire between the two sockets for lighting the bulbs. Then turn the signal on, if the flasher was bad the signals for that side will light up solid.
