hi everyone ,, i have a 1985 ford ranger lifted 11'' with 36's super swampers,and have 2 major problems

1) my steering is horrible everything is wrong with the tire , camber , toed in
i have had numerous alignments and they never work i now need new tires for the front and there not even a year old ... ive heard numerous ways to fix the problem ( put spacers under my coils ) (put longer radius arms on ) anything anyone has to say will be greatly appreciated

thanks

Got pics of your current set-up?

Lifted 11" and you wonder why alignment can't be done right and tires wearing out pre-maturely?? come on,, this is too dang radical. mess with suspension and its down-hill after that,, your going to have problems with alignment, ride, stability, under-steer, over-steer, etc etc. but,, its your truck. post pictures if you can. also,, who did all this modification work, you, susp. shop, dealer as if it matters now?? return it to original specs if I were you but I'm not,,, good luck.

I'm wondering how a 11" lift was done on the TTB, as the tallest lift ever offered commercially was an 8" kit. Pics are certainly in order here.

See if this page might help though:

I very strongly suspect you'll have to bring it down to a more reasonable lift height if you're looking to resolve your steering issue (that or swap to a straight beam front axle, the steering on which is a bit easier to deal with on skyscraper rides).

Thats why I asked for pics:D

8 inches on a TTB truck is a pain to keep aligned, One of my friends got so frustrated with it he went to a EB Dana 44, steering and alignment problems gone. I can't imagine how much of a chore 11 inches of TTB lift would be to keep aligned.

Pics or it didn't happen :icon_twisted:

Maybe he did a Skyjacker true 8" lift plus a 3" bodylift?

Hell, TTB steering sucks at 6" (for me at least, and is nothing but issues).

It's a lack of education on your suspension that is the root cause. 11" of lift could work, if you knew what the geometric challenges were and were willing to solve them. First, you have to post pictures so everyone can make fun of you. Then, you have to be willing to do some extreme fabrication to get the steering, radius arms and axle beams lined up.

i just wanna see pics.... lol

would assume an 8 in with 3 in b/l

no need for pics. its not intended for normal use if its an 8 in oem based suspension lift.
