So has anyone ever done the temp welding using two batteries and copper coat hanger? How did it work and how did it hold up.

Also, 1993 ext cab ranger 4x4 5spd, came with what axle, 7.5 or 8.8 and if 8.8 what is the difference between that axle and the explorer 8.8? I need to start doing some mods, but brand new parts are out of the question, so Im about to learn quick fast and in a hurry about fabrication. LOl.

Watched a guy glue enough of a D/S yoke back together to hold a replacement u-joint and limp out of the woods. But it was done with actual rods...always carries his goggles and a few rods in a moisture-proof tube.

I assume you're thinking quick and dirty trail fixes?

I dunno about your hill billy home-brew welder, but I do know a bit about your axle stuff.

The 93 4x4 could come with either the 7.5 or the 8.8, but with the 4.0 and x-cab its far more likely to have the 8.8.

As for the differences, the 7.5 and the 28 spline 8.8 are actually closer together in many respects than the 28 and 31 spline 8.8s are.

The explorer 8.8 has under-slung springs where the ranger has over the top springs. To put an ex 8.8 in your truck you have to get the spring perches and shock mounts switched around, and no, you can't just flip it over, the shocks won't mount it.

If you do have a 7.5 then a 28-spline 8.8 will just bolt in.
