Hey everyone . I have a 1998 2.5, 5 speed Ranger. A few days ago the speedo and trip meter stoped working , I have changed the sensor abs/vss on the diff , i have checked all the fuses and none of them are blown but i still have no speedo. My #28 fuse which is for the GEM shows no power but is not blown , dont know if that might be something? The other thing I noticed is when i check the two wires going into the abs/vss sensor I get a low light on my test light all the way from where it plugs into the GEM to where it plugs in to the sensor , but as soon as I plug it into the sensor i loose my light where it plugs into the GEM dont know if that points to a short or what? Any help would be great cause I am at my ENDS WITH IT. I have changed the abs/vss sensor , swaped cluster , checked fuses.....what am i missing????

I could be getting confused with another issue, but I recall reading about 2 connectors under the truck. They are Black with a bunch of wires they are right near the fuel filter by the frame. Do a search I think they can get corroded

Just checked the wire cluster out by the fuel filter and all seems to be good , I checked the power lead that runs to the abs/vss sensor red/pink wire and i have a dim light on my test light at all points I can think to check. So far i know i have power from the back of the truck all the way to where it plugs into the GEM , my guess is that the reason i am getting a low/dim light on my test light is because the abs/vss sensor produces power off the magnetic end of the sensor based of wheel rotation , so the faster your wheel spins the brighter the light should get....not sure if thats right but thats my guess. The thing i dont understand is why do i loose my power reading up by the GEM once i plug the abs/vss sensor in? Also the other thing i am having a problem with is where it plugs into the GEM I can see the same red/pink wire found at the rear of the truck , but where it leaves the GEM no more red/pink wire, what does it change too???
