When taking out the Ranger Ball joints, they are pressed from the bottom side of the joint, right? In other words do not press from the stud end.

I was sitting here with a heating pad on my back and relaxing. Then it dawned on me, I never paid attention yesterday and was pressing the Ball joint the wrong way!!!!:annoyed: I hate pain, and being Diabetic to where no surgeon will touch me. I guess come friday, I will try again, friggin shop wanted $220.00 if I remove the knuckles, deliver them and supply the ball joints. Was way to scared to ask how much if he does all the work, probably would have been $600 or more :icon_surprised:

$220 to press balljoints on the knuckle OUT of the rig!? find another shop! that is literally a 10 minute job with the proper tools.

it would probly be the same price for everything they do... like that mechanic in national lampoons vacation......."all of it"

right, you DONT want to press down on the stud, you want press UP on the backside, after you remove your zerk, to remove the ball joint.

auto shop owners do put their kids threw school on ranger balljoints for some reason. Have had shops tell me 150 per joint(parts and labor) on the truck. and 100 bucks to press them.

autozone rental, a few good cuss words,a band aid or two,few drops of blood.and a hour of your time with air tools.

atleast you didnt, have:icon_welder: splater burn threw your finger nail :icon_surprised:like me today.

I don't know what i was thinking when I attempted to press them out. Oh well, at least I I did not damage them any further than they are, or try to use a sledge hammer, that did go through my mind. And yes, I did remember the snap ring on the bottom Ball Joint, only forgot what direction, but the A.Z. tool was no good any ways.
