I erased my check engine light about 3 times and it never ever came back

Used to have a check engine light that came on and I would delete it then it would always come back a few weeks later. After the 3rd time I did this it never came back. A year has passed now and all good.
Does this mean I fixed the problem withouth doing nothing?
I think it had something to do with evap emissions.

Well if you "didn't do nothing" you did something.

If you didn't do anything you didn't fix anything.

If you had evap codes that now aren't coming back you probably had a valve or gas cap that wasn't sealing properly and is now.

Then again, it is possible the light just got tired of being ignored and stopped coming on.

Ah, the emotional light bulb...had one of those once...it died of loneliness...

My Zuki had an issue like that too...I took it in to have the dealership test it and they said that two of my vac lines were mixed up...but when I checked them later they were all in the same position and they charged me $100 to fix it...the light never did come back on after that though...until my speedo cable broke...and I drove it for another three months before I got that fixed finally...

I have noticed that the gas cap has some cracks on the rubber washer, this very well could have been the issue but it's very strange how the problem never came back.
Also the key on this cap was permanently broken when I bought the vehcle. I might aswell buy a new locking cap but I am wondering if I should bother with a aftermarket one with something like this.
Anyone know much about gas caps? Should I just get a motocraft or will any aftermarket do a good job?

Aftermarket NAME BRAND locking gas caps would be fine. Slant makes the ones we use on our car and our BII. In our area of ever boosting gas prices? You'd be foolish not to have a locking gas cap. Just make sure to keep the key number in a safe place--just in case the keys ever break.

Yeah, Stant makes all the caps for just about every car maker, so buying a Stant cap is the way to go.

Did that on an old '97 I had once. light would come on and off for an O2 sensor, then it went off and stayed off so I never thought anything of it. Until the day before I did the inspection and realized the bulb had blown and thats why it stayed off...

Which aftermarket one did you use? Was it the stant one? Stant sounds pretty good. I have done some research on aftermarket ones and have got a lot of negative feedback on them. Unless this stant brand is good, I think I will spend the money on a motocraft one.
