I don't smell a RAT

I'm putting a 1999 Explorer 5.0 into my 1998 Ranger S/C. Unfortunately I'm having to deal with the PATS issue since the Explorer has it and the Ranger doesn't. I've read all the posts relative to the issue, on this site and RPS, but I'm still confused. There are references to the Ranger RAT module...and the necessity to "labotomize" it for PATS compatibility.

What is the RAT module? What does it do? How does one labotomize it?

I have the Helms manual and the Ford shop manual and can't find any evidence that my 1998 Ranger even has a RAT.

Many thanks.

Sorry.....can't help with extermination problems

No such thing as a RAT module?

Anybody know what a RAT module does? I guess it's possible that it was a typo and it was actually the RAP module subject to a labotomy.

You need to check with any locksmith that does auto locks, Pop-A-LocK, for example or any shop that installs alarms and remote starter systems. They often bypass the PATS and sometimes have to restore it's functionality, like they did on my '97 Expedition.

Good luck with it.
