I caught a thief! Several people were shot...

Yea around here they usually have crappy old handguns. And while innocent bystanders do get hit.... If your in dowtown trenton at 3am, chances are you're not that innocent anyway.

Yes, the dollar amount is not the big thing, theft is theft and as the thief gets more convictions the courts can put them away longer and longer, career criminal status

"Public Service" shootings(gang members) are OK but the problem is that most of these shooters are NOT good shots, and can use automatics which are by design not very accurate, quantity over quality firearms :)

If not addressed "innocent bystander" injury or death will be result down the road

Long guns in general are very rare to see used in violent crime, a true automatic rifle being used is almost unheard of.

As a percentage of guns in civilian hands semi-auto rifles like the AR-15 or Mini-44 are used in crimes at a lower rate than handguns, and most hand guns meet the definition of "semi-auotmatic".

Back in my day the MAC-10 was the inaccurate, quantity before quality, choice of non-deer hunters :)

I think there were 3 or 4 conficated at my high school each year, southern calif
But your right no one was actually shot with one at the school, hand guns yes, but no one died so a good school :)

I went to junior high(7-9) and high school(10-12) just when Busing had started, we had about 3,500 kids at the high school

Now I'm pretty sure you are a bit older than me, and that school was a little bigger than mine, but in the 13 years I was in we had zero guns confiscated, and no one shot.

My highschool had a rifle and archery team... there were plenty of guns in my school every day and no one ever got shot. Oddly enough I can't remeber anyone ever dieing from peanut butter back then either. Now you can't bring either to a school...

During deer season here in the midwest, we all brought our guns to school with us. On lunch we'd all be out in the parking lot showing each other our nicest shotguns, and sometimes other guns made it to the party for show-and-tell. No one was ever hurt because we respect and value human life, we have morals, and we know how to handle weapons properly from the time we're around 5-6 years old.

Cities aren't usually filled with people that live their life or see things this way...

The only violence I remember at my school involved fists. Drugs? Yes. Pregnancy? Yes. Gun crimes? No. Pretty hard to ban fists though.
