I want to now how to find the vent tube on a 1988 ranger a4ld, I want to make sure its not plugged.

I believe it will hang down on the driver side just behind where the torque convertor is. Somewhere around the shift arm.

I looked, but cant find anything hanging down on the drivers side.

Look up on top of tranny near the tail housing ..like where the tail housing and main case come together..should be 1 there.

It exits the case where BRUCE has indicated. Then it connects to a steel line. It runs forward and up to a bracket that is under the two top trans to motor bolts. It then comes down the drivers side and ends near the shift linkage.
PM me your email it you want a pic. I have three of them sitting here.
It is possible the line was left off of it at some time.

I am having the same trouble on my 87. I can only find the transfer case vent tube. I could use a picture also. Thanks Ken
