when i pull away in first and try to make a turn it feels like either the tranny or something underneath is moving, you can feel it in the stick that somethings shifting back and forth and i have no idea what it is or how to fix it!!! could it be tranny mounts? or is something just really loose? and when im cycling gears after i get it into every gear and let out the clutch theres always a thump/pop..its really frustrating me..someone help please.

I would start by checking your U-joints on your driveshaft. It could be tranny mounts I guess, crawl under there and check em out should be pretty easy to tell if their shot I think. Is there any vibration or grinding while your driving? Those are usually tell tale signs of bad U-joints.

what are some ways to check if u joints are bad? i heard you can try to give the drive shaft a turn and if it turns too much they are bad...and when i gave it a turn it moved about an inch or two.

sounds like a bad u joint its not hard to replace buy a greasable 1 and change it and see wat happens

They're inexpensive. Have to pull driveline to replace one, might as well do both while you have it out. Definately sounds like U-joints to me.

ok so i got the u joints changed on my truck, that definately wasnt the problem but they were bad so i got that taken care of,still when making a u turn something is jumping back and forth it makes the truck shake. its pissing me off!

check the trans mount by laying under the truck and shaking the trans side to side. i had a similar sound but it turned out to be the bracket on my catalytic converter that mounts to the trans mount. the weld had broken off the braket on the converter side and it would wiggle all over the place and make noise.

I already did that it moves maybe 1/4 of an inch, and i doubt its the converter making all that noise, you can also feel the movement in the shifter when making the turn.whenver i make a u turn in 1st gear u can feel the shifter moving from front to back and theres like a metal clanking nose.

Motor Mounts (plural) and transmission mount. When you have a good transmission mount You shouldn't be able to move not even a fraction of an inch up and down or side to side (probably a 1/32" due to polyurethane stretching capabilities).
And most definetly your powertrain shouldn't move at all.
I've seen these symptoms before and what you are telling directs me immediately to the mounts. ALL OF THEM.

Ok so i just changed the transmission mount today and the motor mounts are on order. I discovered that the transmission crossmember has a crack in it!! should i change that out asap or is it gonna be fine? would it be damaged from the bad mounts, and everything shifting around?
