I hooked up my system and all is left is my kicker 6.5 inch sub, but i need an enclosure to fit under my seat.

Do you guys know of anywhere, or anyone who has an enclosure or who makes boxes?

Would you recommend that I make my own enclosure and if so how much of a project would it be?

I really need it under my seat, I wanna keep things looking stock, so any and all tips are welcome to help me get it done. :)

www.sonicelectronix.com sell prefabbed boxes.

but making you own is not all that hard. for your needs, these are the supplies youll need

1 4x8 sheet of 5/8 mdf

1 tube of wood glue

1 box of 1 5/8 drywall screws

some pl construction adhesive

and a skill saw and jig saw or a router.

its about a 2 hour job. its really easy if you dont have to cover the box in anything.

So far I can't find any 6.5 inch enclosures so i may have to go ahead and make my own enclosure, do you have any step by step website links, or do you have a step by step or anything helpful for tips.

basically, measure out how big you want the box. normally i would suggest building the box to the correct volume, but since its going under a seat, it wont be a big deal.

then measure the depth of the sub an figure that into the box.

cut all four sides you will need.

using wood glue, pre drill the holes, and set in the 1 5/8 drywall screws.

then mark and cut the holes for the subwoofer.

then take the pl constuction adheasive and seal all the edges inside the box.

then either buy one of these from the local stereo store http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_4929_Square+Subwoofer+-+Speaker+Terminal+Cup+TCS.html

or drill 2 holes, run your speaker wires through, and pl the holes shut.

now mount the sub and enjoy.

of course theres more to it then that, but that will give you a basic heads up as to what your in for.

like i said, its not hard, will cost like 35.00-40.00 in materials, and have plenty left over for future projects.

thanks man, I'll look into it. i have a feeling i'll give up looking for a finished one so I'll try and make a little step by step project thingy for TRS once I begin.

is there enough room under a seat to fit any speaker? well i guess it only has about a 3" mounting depth so you only need about 4" or so to make it work. Is the amp for it going under the seat too? Also im not sure but would a 6.5" sub under a seat even be worth it? I feel like a speaker that small is gonna be more midbass and having it under a seat is gonna muffle the heck out of it. What if you put it behind one of your rear jumper seats? like in the wall. There should be enough room, but you might not be able to fold the seat up. Just some thoughts

making a box isnt hard at all. fitting it under your seat might be tricky. but on a 6.5 inch sub might not have the out put your looking for in a sealed box. you might want to looking into porting the box.

use wood screws, not sheet metal screws. wally world has em cheap.

Keep in mind that all subs have a certain cubic feet of air they need to breathe right. The box needs to be within specs to sound right. Also it can sound totally different if ported vs non ported sub.

You need to find someone with some software. That speaker can be focused in the frequencies you want it to be, with the right port in the enclosure. I'm guessing the correct enclosure is around a solid cubic foot--1,728 cubic inches. That's not going to fit under a Ranger seat, I don't think. And if it isn't good, it's not worth having. I would find another place for it. If you look at TRS Magazine for the article I did a few months ago on fitting parts, you'll see it isn't that hard to shape something that would look natural and not take away much from the stock look. I mean, you have an extended cab. You could fit a black carpeted enclosure in there against one side. Or maybe make one that looked like a 12-pack of soda.

Another thing is, the plastic factory boxes in the older trucks only had like 4" speakers but they were ported correctly and they actually sounded pretty decent. I replaced the factory speakers with good ones and those are in my crewcab Chevy behind the rear seat.

Thanks for all the advice guys, if I were to make it ported myself what different type build would I have to do?

BTW, has anyone ever tried having the sub beneath the seat? If no one has I think I'd go on and just do it for the heck of it, see how good or bad it ends up, if it's bad, no problem I'll go a different route and put it into my extended area.

I might even get a bigger sub later on if I end up wanting more bass, for now I only need a tad bit to satisfy my wants.

My amp fit perfectly under the passenger seat, and man does it help out my speakers, crystal clear all the way to max volume.

my amp doesn't fit under either of my seats... it's pretty small too, but its the wire that goes from the left side of the slider to the ride side that is in the way... other than that i'd be fine i think. i might just take the wire out and put my amp there, and then if my passenger wants to move his/her seat.. too bad haha.
