Hyundai Santa Cruz?

There’s some Maverick talk on here and a few folks who’ve bought them, but it seems the Santa Cruz is a competitor. Thoughts?

I've been keeping my eye on both. I currently own a '19 Hyundai Santa Fe, had these been an option then, I would probably be driving one or the other. It seems the Mavericks are more utilitarian. The Santa Cruz interior is more car like and is basically a Tuscon with a bed. Santa Cruz has a built in non removable tonneau that eats up some space. It also has a small compartment in the bed near the tailgate that can serve as a cooler/ice chest. My 08 Sport Trac had one up near the cab, I never used it though. After looking at a lot of reviews and test drives, I would lean towards the Maverick.

Like the maverick its a cute ute with a bed.

IRS, unibody, etc etc. Dont buy either expecting a truck.

Most of the reviews or comparisons that I've seen say that the Maverick is a bit more like a scaled down truck while the Santa Cruz is more like a CUV with an open cargo area. You can tell the Ford designers and engineers spent a lot of time and effort on making the bed of the Maverick functional.

Santa Cruz Prototype was a sexy machine, what Hyundai delivered is meh.

Funny, Hyundai doesn't want Santa Cruz referred to as a truck - its a sport adventure vehicle.
