Lets say someone wanted to take a 93' 2.3L back to a 2-barrel Weber carb and a Distributor. What steps would need to be taken to accomplish this?

From the sticky at the top of this section, you should be able to install a distributor without a lot of difficulty.
For the carb'd intake, if you want a 2V Holley/Weber, get a 74-8? intake that was carbureted. The 2V was used in Pinto & Mustang II for a few years, the 1V in trucks, up to and past 1985 49-state.
You would have to insure your the intake ports on your head matched the shape of the intake ports of the manifold you want to use.
I understand there are adapters to allow installation of carbs onto EFI manifolds after removing the upper, curved part. Check the Racer Walsh site and (mumble - I forget the other - Esslinger?) for adapters.

The hole for the distributor was removed from block casting in 1995 so you should be good to convert it back.

Look at Duraspark distributor(has vacuum advance) with HEI module, very reliable 1 wire hook up, 2 if you want a tach, lol.

Ranger 2.3l Lima engines used D-port heads 1989 to 1994, with a slight change in 1995 to 2001
1983 to 1985 Rangers used Round Port, so you shouldn't use those intakes use those intakes
Mustangs used D-port from about 1981
Yes, there are adapter plates for current lower intake

The adapters only work on some of the lowers, the ones that have the 4 ports really close together.
