hydrolocked 4.0L

every 2.9 or 4.0 engine I've ever seen that was hydrolocked provided a "souvineer"
on disassembly.

The clearances in those engines are rather tight and it doesn't take a whole lot of water to bend the rods sufficiently to make the crank counterweight hit the underside of the wrist pin boss.

After that there isn't much you can do with it.

so i got a 92 4.0l to put back into my 93 ranger. got the old engine out and the new one in and bolted back into the engine mounts and bell housing and am getting started wiring back up the harness. on the 92 however there is a cam shaft position censor underneat the intake minifold on the back side of the engine inbetween the two valve covers. from the book i have it says that only models that were manual transmission and manufactured to be sold in california need this sensor. does this mean that it will be ok to no plug it in as the harness i have has no port for this sensor? the old engine just has a plug in it where it goes. can i just swap that out?
thanks in advance for any input

you can leave it unplugged or swap it out for the oil pump drive from your other engine, it doesnt matter. As long as there is something in there to drive the oil pump.
