HYDROBOOST BRAKES?

has anyone converted to hydroboost brakes? im wondering what steering pump i need to do this conversion or if i can some how use my stock one (4.0 ohv)? i found that some mustangs came with hydroboost set ups so id probably use one of those.
any help is appreciated. thanks!

What advantage are you looking to gain? Mind you I've never flown a Ranger through the dessert.

In my mind... I see something like @BlackBII did with the electric power steering and loosing the P/S pump all together.

room under the hood for shocks and tube work. the brake booster is right in the way of necessary tube work for shock towers and correct shock placement! my only option is with dual master cylinder manual brakes from like tilton or wilwood, or maybe a hydroboost set up if anyone's got any info on it.

Now I see... figured it had something to do with being airborne.

I have run dual masters with a balance bar in a couple off road buggies with great results... However buggies are pretty light in comparison... and leg fatigue is a real thing.

yeah id like to keep power brakes if possible. my question is if the ranger steering pump puts out enough pressure to run brakes too, or if ill have to upgrade it. through research ive learned that high pressure line runs from pump to brake booster then another high pressure from booster to steering box. and then just low pressure lines from both units back to the pump.

side note ive been reading that people do the van steering pump upgrade?

I gained some room by using a different booster. IIRC it was from an early b2. It's shown somewhere in my build thread. If I didn't have to leave right away I'd pull up the pics.

so upon reading more the saginaw pump upgrade is no more. "that guy" on here was making brackets for a gm pump but im not sure if hes doing that anymore. any other options?

Stock Ranger PS pump should do the job. In 99 you could get a 3.8 Mustang with either hydroboost or vacuum boost. The 3.8 used the same steering pump as the 4.0, and the parts listings I have don't differentiate anything on the PS pump for hydro vs vacuum, they just list the one pump.

Age, fluid and air. If you successfully vacuum bleed the air out of a ranger pump you can get it almost silent. Almost.
