So after reading tons and tons and tons.....

I have one question. I have the hybrid 35 with 28 internals. Could i take my pig and bolt it up to a set of normal d35 beams(say a set of c/t beams)? aren't they exactly the same? i'm really thinking this question is rather intuitive as i type it, but you know what assuming does)

Am i over/underthinking this?

(and yes, i know i'll get a response that says "just d35 swap" and probably one that says "SAS". but. i don't see any point in swapping out the d35 parts that are already on the truck for some other d35 parts. the weak part of the 28 is the outer shafts, and i don't have to worry about those.)

Yes, you can replace the hybrid diff housing with a real D35 housing. Just make sure you also have the two inner axle shafts that enter into the housing though, the D35 ones have bigger splined ends.

i actually mean the opposite, but i suppose it works either way. i want to take my hybrid housing and slap it on some other d35 beams. thanks for the reply, with so much incorrect information floating around, you gotta make sure.

Yeah, either way.

So some more questions....

If I were to obtain some c/t beams cut for 6inch lift, what else would I need?

I figure 6inch lifts springs and shocks, drop pitman, probably extended radius, but what else?

what am i not thinking of? any advice is awesome.

cut and turn isn't recommended for over ~3" lift, geometry gets a bit funky... Junky will probably add some more

i've been trying to get some more info on the beams in the classifieds, not sure what will turn up.

Yeah, 3" max for modified beams. Any more is asking for problems (both mechanical and handling).

Are you building a go-fast truck for the desert or a trail truck? (or maybe a hybrid of the two)?

some trail, but nothing much. i want a truck that looks good, handles decent, and fits 33s. a 4" drop bracket lift seems ok, but doing a c/t set-up would be awesome if i can manage it, as i would like a truck that can handle hitting a few bumps at speed.

So kindof an all-purpose truck that'll still be spending some time on the street as well?

I would probably skip C&T beams entirely on that for a good quality bracket kit w/extended radius arms.
Reason being: putting the suspension's pivot point higher up in the chassis like that creates a bigger jacking moment on the suspension which tends to affect stability at slow speeds more than at faster speeds, such as while climbing up steep inclines in 4WD (especially one that's rocky, rutted, and/or off-camber). Not to mention the increased narrowing of the track width when the suspension unloads too.
Go-fast rigs aren't as affected by this while blasting in a (relatively) straight line at 50+ MPH and can afford a little more compromise on it for the additional clearance it brings.
If you heighten your awareness of what's in the road ahead of you somewhat (avoiding any partially buried rocks that might strike your brackets, etc), you can still have just as much fun at speed with a good bracket lift. The big thing is finding the right shocks for it, as that is where most of your suspension's performance lies (few, if any, bracket kits come with anything truly decent, you may want to skip the shocks with the kit entirely and get yourself a set of Bilstein or Fox Reservoirs for it maybe).

good advice. the c/t just seems so sexy, but i have a feeling it would end up in a truck that never made it off the blocks or out of the garage..
