Hybird Tahoe?

It's not a hybrid. It probably doesn't save gas either. It's a few extra batteries to run a damn 120V inverter for your tailgating blender.

CopyKat sent me thins link and I hope he doesn't mind if I share it. I've been slowly watching these videos on my shitty satellite connection. THIS is a hybrid, and it is what the Prius has also done but on a much smaller vehicle.

You should read more about the Prius before bashing it.

OK so, when exactly did I start bashing the Prius? I never said it was a bad car, I just said it has a small gas engine and an electric motor, which helps it get good gas mileage, which is exactly what it was designed to do. How is that bashing the car? I have no idea why you reacted to my post the way you did.

The hybrid Tahoe isn't going to have some tiny gas engine and a tiny electric motor to get it going like the Prius. Chevy isn't THAT stupid, they know something like that isn't gonna get a heavy Tahoe moving.

It was geared towards this comment you made. Just because the Prius is a smaller car than the Tahoe it doesn't mean the electric drive is porportionate to the rest of the car. Hence the comment to read a bit more about the Prius before Jumping to conclusions and assuming.

:icon_cheers:

Electric: 273.6 V motor
33 kW (44 hp) @ 1040 rpm
350 N·m (258 ft·lbf) @ 0 rpm

258 Ft-lbs constant is more than enough to get the Tahoe going. That's almost close to the factory gas engine numbers.

In the November 07 Popular Science, page 24 has an article on the Hybrid Tahoe. Apparently it has a different transmission, apparently it has two modes. One operates like a regular hybrid, then at about 30 mph it shifts into a 2nd mode that allows the electric motor to keep contributing power at highway speeds.

Oh great....one more step closer in the wrong direction.

Next they'll be building one tons with IRS and FWD.

Another nail in the coffin of a real truck.

later,
Dustin
