It seems that gradually theres been more and more play in my shifter...

Now theres like 4-5 inches of sideways movement while im in any gear.... im not sure whats up, and i have to to way way over to get into reverse or 5th. When i put it in 5th my knob hits the dash.. 3rd gear can be put in from like everywhere except far to left for 1st and far to the right for 5th..

Just wondering how bad is this going to be.. it drives and shifts perfectly other than this problem. Also randomly when i go into 2nd it will catch something and will work correctly and have only about 1/2 inch of play compared to the HUGE amount.

Does anyone know what my problem is?

anyone know whats up?

Yeah, the plastic "springs" (they are actually bushings)
that the shifter "stub" lever pivots in in the shift tower
of the trans need to be replaced.

PM Rboyer, he's got the kit you need to fix it.

It's literally a 15min job.

BTW, change the transmission oil immediatly, the little chunks of plastic
that have certainly fallen into the transmission and gotten goround up by the gears are going to plug up several critical oil passages.

BTW, if you've ever been inclined to get yourself a hurst shifter now would be the golden time.
