My credo
Just because I haven't been exposed to something to learn it yet doesn't make me stupid.
Mostly due to the fact that any spare minute I have, you can find me working on Rufus.

I've had to fix several little things here and there. Passenger door lock wouldn't open with the key. Dome light wouldn't come on when passenger door was open, etc. I repaired the plastic lid of the center console, cleaned the cover, reinforced and added padding and put it back together.

The biggest change so far was adding the fiberglass tonneau.

Next, I started chasing a roof leak which was soaking my headliner and dripping down everywhere any time it rained. That turned into mostly gutting the interior which is ok because it was stained and nasty anyway.

Found the leak is coming from the back window. Even after tightening the bolts, one corner won't draw down, so next step will be to remove the rear window and check/ clean the seal and reinstall.

I'm learning a ton and will post more as I progress on getting Rufus all spiffed up! lol

Be sure you take a hard look at the third brake light too... those are known leakers.

Keep up the good work. A little love and care goes a long way on these old trucks.

Yes Sir, looked at it first and didn't really see a problem there. Since it's rained for the last three days, I covered it with some painters tape to rule it out in my troubleshooting. Next shower I still had water and could see it coming in the window seam all around. Tightened all the bolts, and just the one leaks now so figure there's dirt in there or the seal is bad or ??. We'll see when I get it out to inspect it I guess. 😏

Some people have use RTV silicon to help form a gasket type of seal to help out here.

Thanks for the suggestion. This is where I sometimes have to compromise and/ or defer to hubby. He has very definite opinions on right and wrong when it comes to seals. I grew up in a house where you did whatever it took to get the job done. lol

I can respect that.

smart guy. Be sure to get RTV and make sure it is mildew resistant
Yeppers. We have red and black, in big caulk gun tubes and more small tubes in the tool box lol

I think it is better to be a 16 yo boy than a 74 yo boy. I still plan to grow up some day.

RTV is your friend but make sure you don't want to use a different type of adhesive later. Silicone will prevent other adhesives from adhering and it is very difficult to totally remove.
