Hub vacuum actuator questions

Hey everyone, I have a 2000 Ford Ranger 4x4 with auto locking hubs. I have heard that if i disconnect the hub vacuum actuator (under the hood) it may increase my mileage. I was wondering if anyone has done this and if it would make my CEL come on. Thanks for any help.

I do not see how disconnecting the actuator under the hood will do anything. If your hubs are working properly (unlocking and locking when desired) thats about as good as it would get.

If they are locked however, you could manually unlock them; that will help.

They are Automatic locking hubs. Are they not locked by that actuator? It does help on the F250s and i was wondering if this would actually do anything or if the guy that is telling me all this is full of bs.
