i have a 76 bronco d 44 in my ranger

what problems would i have in changing the pumpkin to a 79 f 250 hp d44

the axle tubes are larger on the f250, 3" vs 2.75"

i haven't seen the f250 axle yet so i don't know if the larger tubes are turned down at the pumpkin to fit a standard d 44 or if the f 250 d44 has larger openings for the larger tubes

is the current axle converted to leaf spring?

or do you plan to run custom arms?

d 44

the setup is all stock 76 bronco
including radius arms
i only want to put in the high pinion center section to my existing tubes

The tubes are the same size all the way throught even uses a bigger inter seal

well you will need gears too. or are they already the same?

...this is why i think eb axles are dumb(mostly because they used to be pricey and a pos) as they put the pig too close to center and if stock need to be fully upgraded anyway because of the wormy shafts and they are low pinion.

swapping in a hipinion pig is a good idea but its still too close to center for my taste which depending on goals requires more k member mods or custom k member(custom k member always better imo no matter what) and still limits you to d44 stuff and probably gonna need new gears.

to me modding the fullsize axle to desired width so pig offset is ideal to goals is not a bad way to go since custom axleshafts are so cheap these days. that is probably the best cost to benefit upgrade for ya.

another option if you want to wait and save some more coin
since you have to regear many times and if upgrading carrier you could opt to go with a 35 spline, and do 60 outers.....makes for a beastly axle that is not full weight but definitely stouter then an eb axle. spindles/hubs from a ttb big hub 50 would really keep costs in line depending where you shop.
